Community Partnerships Program


MUSIC AT YOUR SCHOOL

The Music School of Delaware’s distinguished Music & Movement classes can come to you! Our Community Partnerships program provides outstanding music education to numerous schools and day care centers throughout the region, bringing our faculty, curriculum and expertise to your location.

As a statewide, nationally accredited music school, we provide a distinctive, quality program with a flexible schedule and comprehensive music curriculum that can be tailored to suit your school’s needs. Our highly trained faculty help children ages 2 to 8 experience the joy of music in their own classrooms, engaging children’s natural creativity and self-expression and offering a holistic approach to child development. We can also enhance the thematic and instructional goals of your school.

WEEKLY CLASSES
Music & Movement outreach programs include:
  • 30 minutes of instruction
  • An instrument demonstration each semester for children ages 2 to 8
  • A Family Music Night or children’s performance hosted at your school
PROGRAM OPTIONS
  • All-inclusive. Provides music for all the children at your school, grouped by age, priced per class.
  • Music Add-on. Provides an extra-curricula program as an additional option for families.
  • Special events. Themed music programs, musical Storytime, staff in-service are also available for schools or libraries.

CURRICULUM

Music for Tiny Tots
2 to 3½ years
This class is a wonderful introduction to music for your youngest students. Each weekly session provides opportunities for singing and vocal development activities, movement, playing instruments, focused listening and story-telling. Children develop language, motor and listening skills as they sing, move and play along to a variety of musical styles. Teacher/aide must accompany children for this class.

Music for the Very Young
3½ to 5 years
In these classes children begin to explore musical concepts through their activities. Weekly sessions include opportunities for singing, dancing, playing simple instruments, interpreting music through movement, stories, games and much more. Professional musicians provide an instrument demonstration each semester.

Rhythm Kids
kindergarten or early elementary students
This program is designed to expand the music experiences of Kindergarten or older students. In addition to the description mentioned above, students are introduced to rhythmic and vocal notation. They explore music from around the world through song, dance, creating musical stories, and enhancing literature through music. The class can include instruction on recorder for an additional instrument fee.
