FACULTY & FRIENDS SERIES Martin Luther King, Jr. & Black History Tribute
Benefits the Jacqueline Beach Faulcon Scholarships for people of color Friday, January 16, 2026 • 7pm • Wilmington Concert Hall • Donations appreciated Join us for this inspiring annual concert honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and serving as a musical prelude to Black History Month. Featuring special guests Trio Noire and Dr. Kimani Bishop, the program includes gospel music and spirituals, a moving performance of Lift Every Voice and Sing by students of the Yudah School of Music, a jazz trio featuring Music School faculty, and a special reunion performance by Music School alumna Grace Opong with her former Music School teacher Lionel Thomas. Dr. Bishop will introduce the steel pan and explore its powerful connection to the civil rights movement. Proceeds benefit the Jacqueline Beach Faulcon Scholarship Fund, established in 2001 to support music education for students of African-American, Hispanic, West Indian, Haitian, and Island backgrounds.

I Love Music Month Recital
Saturday, February 14, 2026 • 4:30pm • Wilmington Concert Hall • Free Each February, The Music School of Delaware proudly celebrates I LOVE MUSIC MONTH, bringing our community together to share school spirit and a love of music while supporting scholarships and championing accessibility so that the joy and lifelong benefits of music education are available to all. A highlight of the month is a special recital featuring faculty and students performing side by side, showcasing the meaningful relationships formed through teaching and learning, followed by an opportunity for students and parents to honor their teachers with a special heart displayed in the lobby as a heartfelt expression of appreciation.
