Early Childhood Music Teacher (Part-Time, 3-6 hours/Week)
Wilmington, DEPosition Summary:
The Music School of Delaware is seeking a passionate and engaging Early Childhood Music Teacher to join our distinguished faculty. This is a part-time position (3-6 hours per week) within our Early Childhood Department.
The successful candidate will teach music classes for children ages 1–6, both in our studios and off-site outreach programs. This position requires availability for morning hours (including Saturdays) and some afternoon/evening hours. The role is ideal for an educator who is energetic, imaginative, and eager to help expand access to early childhood music education across diverse communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and teach engaging music classes for children ages 1–6
- Lead weekly studio and outreach classes according to a set schedule
- Prepare and adapt lesson plans for a variety of class sizes and settings
- Participate in department meetings and school events
- Transport and set up class materials and instruments as needed
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or related field
- Strong musicianship and a clear singing voice
- Warm, engaging presence with children and families
- Comfortable sitting on the floor and lifting supplies/instruments
- Ability to commute to Wilmington, DE and surrounding areas
- Experience teaching young children in classroom or group settings
- Classroom management skills
- Training or certification in early childhood music programs (e.g., Musikgarten, Kindermusik)
- CPR certification (preferred but not required)
- Excellent time management and organization
- Strong memorization and musical recall
- Flexibility and adaptability in the classroom
- Confidence in leading classes and communicating with parents
- Job Type: part-time
