October Music Fest
Sunday, October 30, 2011 — 3:00 p.m., Wilmington Branch
Enjoy an interactive concert of kids’ songs while dressed in Halloween costumes. Snacks and an instrument petting zoo follow the concert.

Nature’s Noises

Hear musical stories and participate in focused listening activities based on fall and nature.

Holiday Sing

Sing along with Early Childhood faculty in this festive celebration of the season! Featuring “The Gingerbread Boy” with EC students and a performance by the Wilmington Youth Chorale.

January Jam

Join us before the “Magical Musical Journey” Family Concert to make an instrument out of the junk pile and learn about age-appropriate instruments. Recommended for ages 3 to 8.

Pajama Night

Children may wear their PJs for a cozy musical story time with book reading, music, circle dances and fun.

Baby Fair

Focus on mind, body and soul with a Lovenotes sample class, workshops, speakers, Yoga for Moms and more! Enter a drawing for free EC classes. Recommended for parents-to-be and new parents with babies.

Jungle Beat

WILMINGTON COMMUNITY ORCHESTRA: A Magical Musical Journey
Sunday, January 15, 2012 — 3:00 p.m., Wilmington Branch
An engaging program of magic-themed selections from Williams “Harry Potter,” Mozart “The Magic Flute,” Stravinsky “The Firebird,” Dukas “Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” Humperdinck “Hänsel und Gretel,” Liadov “Baba Yaga,” Ravel “Mother Goose” and Weber “Oberon.” Conducted by guest Dr. Andrew Kurtz. A free Early Childhood music class, “January Jam,” takes place at 2:00 p.m. (for ages 3 to 8) and an Instrument Petting Zoo follows the concert. Recommended for ages 6 and up.

Musical Jungle Adventures
Saturday, April 21, 2012 — 3:00 p.m., Wilmington Branch
Capture your child’s imagination through jungle-themed works, including George “A Day in the Jungle,” Poulenc “The Story of Babar, the Little Elephant” (in honor of Babar’s 80th anniversary) and a setting of William Blake’s poem “The Tyger.” Featuring Music School piano student Isabelle Kowal with faculty Lotus Cheng, piano, and Dr. Michael Larkin, baritone & narrator. A free Early Childhood music class, “Jungle Beat,” takes place at 2:00 p.m. (for ages 3 to 8). Recommended for ages 5 and up.

Founded in 1924, The Music School of Delaware reaches thousands of people from Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Maryland through its instructional programs and 75 public performances each year. The Music School is the only nationally accredited program of its kind in Delaware and is the only statewide accredited community music school in the nation. The Music School offers standard-setting instructional programs for all ages including the Early Childhood program, Suzuki Academy, private study and ensembles. A faculty of nearly 100 expert artists and educators are among the best-trained musicians in the country. Open to all, the school administers a financial assistance program to help ensure music excellence for everyone, regardless of financial means. The Music School offers programs at branch locations in Wilmington and Milford and at over 25 satellite and outreach locations in Kent, Sussex and New Castle counties.
