Music & Movement Outreach Program

MUSIC AT YOUR SCHOOL

The Music School of Delaware’s distinguished Music & Movement classes can come to you! Our outreach program provides outstanding music education to numerous schools and day care centers throughout the region, bringing our faculty, curriculum and expertise to your location.

As a statewide, nationally accredited music school, we provide a distinctive, quality program with a flexible schedule and comprehensive music curriculum that can be tailored to suit your school’s needs. Our highly trained faculty help children ages 2 to 7 experience the joy of music in their own classrooms, engaging children’s natural creativity and self-expression and offering a holistic approach to child development. We can also enhance the thematic and instructional goals of your school.

Our outreach program offers more than anyone else in the area. We include instrument demonstrations by professional musicians as part of each semester. Our teachers can host a Family Music Night or end-of-year performance at your location. Parents who wish to become more involved with The Music School of Delaware may connect to our e-newsletter, "EC & Me," which provides extra info about early childhood music education, invitations to many free events and complimentary tickets to Family Concerts at the Music School (limited quantities available). In addition, your families will become part of the larger Music School community, with opportunities to be involved in future music lessons, classes or ensembles.

OUTREACH CURRICULUM

Music for Tiny Tots
2 to 3½ years
This class is a wonderful introduction to music for your youngest students. Each weekly session provides opportunities for singing and vocal development activities, movement, playing instruments, focused listening and story-telling. Children develop language, motor and listening skills as they sing, move and play along to a variety of musical styles. Teacher/aide must accompany children for this class.

Music for the Very Young
3½ to 5 years
In these classes children begin to explore musical concepts through their activities. Weekly sessions include opportunities for singing, dancing, playing simple instruments, interpreting music through movement, stories, games and much more. Professional musicians provide an instrument demonstration each semester.

Rhythm Kids
kindergarten or early elementary students
This program is designed to expand the musical experiences of kindergarten or older students. In addition to the activities mentioned above, students are introduced to rhythmic and graphic notation. They “explore” habitats and countries around the world through songs and chants, dances, creating musical stories and much more! Professional musicians provide an instrument demonstration each semester. The course can include instruction on recorder or glockenspiel for an additional instrument fee.
