GROUP PIANO CLASSES


GROUP PIANO FOR CHILDREN
7 to 9 years (Albert Pinkerton)
Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Starting September 21
Formal piano lessons in a group setting! Through movement, games and creative discovery, children learn to play the piano and read music from the very first lesson, establishing a secure foundation for ongoing piano study. Classes include music theory, technique, sight-reading, composing and ensemble playing, with strong emphasis on expressive playing.
PREREQUISITE: Readiness assessment with instructor; daily access to a piano required
ENROLLMENT: Entire academic year
TUITION: $175 per 15-week semester
MATERIALS: To be purchased by student

CLASS PIANO FOR ADULTS I
Adults 18 years and up (Albert Pinkerton)
Wednesdays, 7:30-8:30 p.m.
Starting September 21
Perfect for the adult who has always longed to play the piano but has little or no musical experience. Students play music from the very first lesson and work on sight-reading, technique and expressive performance, in addition to learning basic theory, harmonization, improvisation, ensemble and efficient practice skills.
PREREQUISITE: Telephone interview with instructor; daily access to a piano and time for regular practice required
ENROLLMENT: Entire academic year
TUITION: $175 per 15-week semester
MATERIALS: To be purchased by student

CLASS PIANO FOR ADULTS II
Adults 18 years and up (Albert Pinkerton)
Mondays, 7:30-8:30 p.m.
Starting September 19
Designed for adults with basic piano skills—including reading treble and bass clefs and knowledge of basic rhythms, chords and scales (C, G, F)—this class emphasizes fluent reading, secure rhythm, controlled technique and expressive performance, in addition to teaching music theory, sight-reading, harmonization, improvisation, ensemble and efficient practice skills.
PREREQUISITE: Class Piano for Adults I or permission of instructor; daily access to a piano and time for regular practice required
ENROLLMENT: Entire academic year
TUITION: $175 per 15-week semester
MATERIALS: To be purchased by student

CLASS PIANO FOR ADULTS III
Adults 18 years and up (Albert Pinkerton)
Mondays, 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Starting September 19
Designed for adults with intermediate piano skills—including reading treble and bass clefs and knowledge of standard rhythms, chords and scales (C, G, F, D Major and a minor)—this class emphasizes fluent reading, secure rhythm, controlled technique and expressive performance, in addition to teaching music theory, sight-reading, harmonization, improvisation, ensemble and efficient practice skills.
PREREQUISITE: Class Piano for Adults II or permission of instructor; daily access to a piano and time for regular practice required

MUSIC THEORY


BASIC MUSIC THEORY FOR ADULTS
Adults 18 years and up (Benjamin Erskine)
Mondays, 6:00-7:00 p.m.
Starting September 19
Do you play by ear but can’t read a note? Would you like to help your child practice? This class is ideal for the adult student with little or no musical experience, covering fundamentals of notation in treble and bass clefs, rhythm, time signatures, major and minor scales, key signatures, modes, intervals and chords, as well as beginning aural skills.
ENROLLMENT: Entire academic year
TUITION: $140 per 15-week semester
MATERIALS: Workbook to be purchased separately
