The Music School of Delaware Recognizes Students
(WILMINGTON, DEL.) August 11, 2010– The Music School of Delaware, the state’s only nationally accredited community music school, congratulates the 2010 Honor Award, Scholarship and Certificate Program students.
Honor Awards - Music School Honor Awards are awarded to students who have achieved a high level of music proficiency. Recipients receive scholarship dollars toward continued music study. The 2010 recipients are Philip Johnson, violin (Shelley Beard Schleigh); Angela Li, flute (Lynne Cooksey); Pearl Li, piano (Lotus Cheng); Nathan Lowman, violin (Kate Ransom); Laurella Lutz, flute (Lynne Cooksey); Hiroto Saito, violin (Luigi Mazzocchi); and Emma Scott, violin (Janka Pernisz) and piano (Oleg Maslov).
Estella Hillersohn Frankel Violin Scholarship - The Estella Hillersohn Frankel Scholarship Fund was established in 1982 to promote and advance the study of violin. The 2010 recipients are Nathan Lowman, 1st place (Kate Ransom) and Emma Scott, 2nd place (Janka Pernisz).
Jacqueline Beach Faulcon Honor Awards - Established by Music School faculty member Jacqueline Beach Faulcon in 2001, this merit scholarship is designated for students between the ages of 6 and 21 of African-American, Hispanic, West Indian, Haitian or Islands background. The 2010 recipients are Chloe Braynen, piano (Lotus Cheng); Jhordan Gardner, viola (Shelley Beard Schleigh); and Aubrey Kingston, piano (Dawn Stevens).
Certificate Program Graduates - The Certificate Program is designed for the most serious young musicians to inspire and stimulate their music study. Certificates are awarded to Music School students to recognize special accomplishment in music studies, including private vocal or instrumental instruction and supplemental music classes and ensembles. The 2010 graduates are Jennifer Campbell, piano - with distinction (David Brown); Zoe Dobbs, cello (Jennifer Stomberg); Rachyl Duffy, viola - with distinction (Shelley Beard Schleigh); Alexandra Looney, piano (Dawn Stevens); Jesse Newby, voice (Michael Larkin); and Maria Scott, piano (Liliya Maslov).

The Music School of Delaware is now enrolling students of all ages and all levels at statewide locations in Wilmington, Milford, Pike Creek, Middletown, Dover, Felton, Angola/Long Neck and Seaford. The Music School offers standard-setting instructional programs including an Early Childhood program; Suzuki Academy; private and group vocal and instrumental instruction; choral and instrumental ensembles for youth, teens and adults; and group classes.
